Artist’s statement

My oil paintings have highly textured surfaces in which I try to merge the physicality of the accumulating paint with characteristics of spatial illusion.  My goal is to make images that encourage the viewer of each image to come back and find something new in each viewing and to commit to a more complex experience, which requires a longer look.  My work is typically oil on canvas, linen or board.
